Lineage Opening Reception - The Pool

August 8- September 9, 2025

Lineage is a body of work that explores the roles of women through the lens of lineage, domesticity, and craft. Rooted in personal experience as a mother, daughter, and artist, my work draws from tactile, familiar materials—doilies, silverware, vintage photographs—and reimagines them as vessels of memory, labor, and care. The title honors and pays tribute to the women in my family while reflecting on my own evolving role—and my daughter’s—in today’s society.

As women, how do we navigate our roles across generations? How have expectations shifted over time? These questions consider the intersection of tradition and self-determination. In a world that often pulls us in competing directions,

Inspired by objects once central to domestic life but now often discarded, Lineage seeks to restore their significance in a contemporary context. By combining 2D and 3D elements, the exhibition honors overlooked traditions of women’s craft, once dismissed as decorative, and brings them into the gallery space as symbols of care and resilience.

In this work, the transformation of the material becomes as important as the material itself. Tea bags steeped in hot water release organic shapes and colors; flowers are pressed and preserved like memories. These acts reflect a quiet form of alchemy—an echo of presence, labor, and love.

Lineage invites dialogue around the significance of what we pass down, what we preserve, and what we transform. In a cultural moment where progress is often challenged, reclaiming these narratives feels more vital than ever.
